We can only continue to care for our dogs with financial assistance. For every dog we rescue they have a an initial vet consultation and are tested for Leishmaniosis and Heartworm. We treat each dog for Tick fever and they receive deworming medication and for fleas. For every dog over the age of 7 months they have a Seresto collar to help protect them against most diseases whilst puppies receive monthly tablets for the same protection. Every dog over 7 months is sterilised. We then of course have significant vet bills due to testing, treatment and medication for dogs that are sick.

From time to time we have dogs that require surgery whether at our vets in Faro or Lisbon. Monthly medications for dogs with Leishmaniosis come with high costs and dogs that are older and have joint problems etc. Whilst we do receive dog food donations, we still have high monthly food bills. We also require funds for maintenance, repairs and for the creation of new paddocks, for example.

Whilst, ADL was self-funded for many years, these funds have dried out and we now solely rely on donations – regular monthly donations and one off donations – and our fundraising events.

By donating to us here at ADL rescue and sanctuary you are helping us to help the dogs in our care and allow us to take in new dogs that have either been abandoned or neglected/abused, giving them the best chance to find their forever homes. We give every dog here love and a family and it's only possible through our generous donors.
